Ban Saleuan Village
Ban Saleuan is situated south of Luang Prabang and is an agricultural and fishing village on the river’s edge of the Mekong. It is a charming village with smiling locals and a place where time slows down. The sounds of children playing and the gentle ring of the buffalo cow bells in the nearby fields echo throughout a warm afternoon in this village. We are blessed to have forged such a close relationship with this village.
Breath-taking Tad Kuang Si Waterfalls
The largest and most breath-taking of Luang Prabang’s waterfalls Tad Kuang Si boasts an impressive three tiers of falls, culminating in a sensational 50 meter cascade, before spilling into a series of mineral-rich turquoise pools. The water in Kuang Si’s shallow pools remains cool throughout the year and is therefore a popular swimming spot for locals and tourists alike, especially in the summer months when escaping the heat becomes a priority.
Kuang Si Free the Bears Rescue Centre
Kuang Si also plays host to the Free the Bears Rescue Centre and Kuang Si Butterfly Park. Located at the entrance to the falls, Free the Bears sanctuary provides a home to over twenty Asiatic Black Bears. Each of the large enclosures have viewing platforms where you can watch the bears as they eat, snooze and fool around. It is noting that the sanctuary does not receive any money from the park entrance fee and therefore any support is welcomed by way of donations or by purchasing any of the Free the Bears merchandise.
